Chasing dreams is scary business.

Did you hear? I’m selling my artwork for the first.time.ever.
I’ve always loved&hated the idea of selling my work.
Loved the idea of reaching other people and connecting through what I create.  It’s a unique conversation and I love it.
Loved the idea of the feeling of validation that would come with someone wanting what I made enough to buy it.
Loved the idea of adding to the happiness in someone’s life with something I’d made that they’d see everyday.
Conversely I’ve always hated the possibility of such vulnerability and failure.
Hated that it was possible that I’d put myself out there, and no one would be interested in what I had to offer.
Hated the possibility that my art wouldn’t touch people. That it=I wasn’t good enough or talented enough.
So for years (really though, years) I’ve just told people, “I don’t sell my work”. It’s safer, easier and it’s not scary either.
Well, recently the timing and my current focuses, on home and happiness (and things that bring goodness into life), seemed right. So, I’ve made my work available to buy.

And I’m still pretty scared to death.
I don’t know how it will go, but it was time to chase this dream.

My new Etsy shop {MichelleMakesArt} is now open, check it out here.

Here are some pieces you'll find up in the shop :)
<I'll keep an update of new pieces on my art blog.>

celebration: st. patrick's day; green style.

St. Patrick's Day mantle decor.
Just thought I'd add a picture of the changes I made from the Valentine's decor to St. Patrick's Day.  It was quite simple and fast. New watercolor and new candy, the end. (I've really got to get pictures taken Before all the candy is eaten.) I really love green in general though....just an fyi. Good color.

Shnarning is good for the soul.

Me and my sister Annie. We made the treats, Kevin made the non-treat food.

"I'd take good food over bad food any old day of the week." (The Ghost and Mr. Chicken)

The multicolored cake of glory!
"Shnarn" is a word my Dad's family uses; it is used to describe any time with good company, conversation and food. Use it, love it.  Everyone needs a good shnarn.

So Kevin and I decided to have a house-warming party with some friends and family to celebrate our move. Course, without considering it, I scheduled it for the very same weekend as a 10 hour training with LDS Family Services for Adoption.  Needless to say, it was quite the busy weekend. But the training was So good and the party was so chill and relaxing that I was glad in the end that we'd done them both last weekend.

It's so good to be with close friends and family. Annie was really nice to drive down to help us set up, plus if it wasn't for her I wouldn't have had any of the cool treats we made.  She found versions of them on Pinterest; really cool website. And let's be serious, how cool is a layer cake with a gradation of colors? Right up my alley, I love a good gradation; in a cake, the sky, a painting or intaglio print. Try it!
